    Order of the Day

    22 May 2027 · Elmswood Barn

    12:30

    Guests arrive

St Botolph's, a five minute walk from the barn.

    Getting There

Bramfield is twenty minutes from Hertford North, and trains run from Moorgate about twice an hour. There is parking at the barn for about forty cars and you are welcome to leave one overnight. Taxis need booking in advance — there is no rank and very little passing trade after eleven.

    Places to Stay

We have held ten rooms at The Bramfield Arms, a few minutes' walk from the barn, under "Calloway" until the end of March. There are more rooms in Hertford, which is a short taxi ride.

    Dress Code

Garden party. Think linen and a jacket you can dance in — the lawn is uneven, so heels will lose. No black tie, and nothing you would mind getting grass on.

    Our Story

We met on a canal towpath in 2019, both walking the same borrowed dog, and spent twenty minutes each assuming the other one owned him. His name was Barney and he belonged to a woman in the next village who has never been told any of this. Seven years, two flats and one very small garden later, Tom proposed on the same stretch of towpath, in the rain, with a dog neither of us knew barking at him throughout.

    Questions

Is there parking at the barn?

Yes, about forty spaces, and you are welcome to leave a car overnight and collect it the next morning. Taxis are scarce after eleven, so book ahead.

    Can we bring the children?

Yes — there is a children's table, and the barn has a quiet room upstairs if anyone needs a nap. Let us know ages when you reply so we can feed them.

    What time should we arrive?

Half past twelve at the church. The ceremony starts at one and the doors close.

    Is it indoors or out?

Both, and the weather decides. There is room for everybody inside, so bring a jacket and hope for the best.

Are you doing a gift list?

There is one on the site, but only because people asked. Your being there is genuinely the thing we want.

    Gifts

Your presence is the best gift — but if you would like to contribute to our honeymoon, you can do that here. Thank you.
